Film policy - 2011 comes in to Effect

From April 1, 2011 the Karnataka Government has come up with new Film Policy. Most of the earlier policies remain the same with a few modifications. It is a twenty pages ‘Kannada Chalanachitra Neethi’ that touches upon the awards, subsidy, the salient features for selection of it and some new announcements. The government was forced to announce the film policy when one of the directors Prof Baraguru Ramachandrappa demanded the guidelines for selecting awards and subsidy.

With some of the senior leaders of the Kannada film industry, the government made the new film policy and it is now before the Kannada filmdom.

Debutant director and producer award of Rs.50000 and silver medal, Popular film award for producer and director – Rs.50000 and silver medal and  best Book on Cinema – Rs.20000 award and a silver medal, Rs.20000 for the publisher too are the new additions.

The state government has followed the National film awards in the new announcements.
